It's 1915 in the Adelaide Hills, and young Australian men are dying far from home. To the boys from Wirreebilla fighting in the trenches of Europe, their home village seems a haven of peace. But is it really so peaceful? Wirreebilla families are angry about the loss of their sons, and they are turning their anger on their neighbours. Third-generation German settlers are being treated with increasing hostility, and the community is dividing as old friends become the new enemy.
